Day 10 Other Halloween Theme

OK...I had a hard time deciding...but liking a more elegant nail most of the time, I decided to go with something striking but yet still tasteful.

SO I decided to a combo crackle...


I am hoping you can see where I am trying to go with this one.  I wanted my two hands to match this time.  :D  I started with OPI A Roll In The Hague for a nice orange base, then I overlayed that with ChG Glitter Goblin, then a layer of OPI Black Shatter.


I also did this one at the same time.  I started with ChG Cast A Spell, then overlayed it with Pretty & Polished Pumped Up Pumpkin.  I had done a variation of it with SC Black on Black, but it shrank so bad, that I had to try it over again a few days later. (That and it popped off--dontcha just HATE when that happens?)  I solved that problem by smoothing my nails out and making sure that I waiting longer between coats.  Yup, I can be an impatient polisher when I get excited about an idea.

I honestly wasn't sure which one I was going to do the black shatter over.  In the end, I decided that this one had more than enough black in it to make it very striking.

I hope you have enjoyed this challenge as much as I have.  Please feel free to do your own interpretations of my manis here...believe me, there are PLENTY of ways where mine might be improved or changed to suit you.

Day 9 Pumpkin

My Pumpkin Manicure!

Oh Crap!  Zombie Pumpkin!  Run for your lives!

Ok, so the chances of a zombie pumpkin are rare...never the less, I decided that I needed one.  :D  I will post a close up photo as soon as it decides to upload.  :D  :headdesk:

Yes, even the eyes glow...

And yes, that is a pepper...

Day 8 Witch

Here is my witch inspired manicure.  It is dark, but has mysterious layers of warmth and light...sprinkles of stardust that could have been plucked down from the heavens by her simple spell.


It looks like a red version of a galaxy nail...but the technique that I actually used was the Saran Wrap nail art.    Warm and yet chilly at the same time, don't you think?  It took me at least a dozen photos before I found one that seemed to capture enough of the essence that I wanted...and boy, does it come out in THIS photo! :D

Day 7 Spider

Here is my Spider Manicure!  Isn't this fun!  I am not a big fan of spiders as a rule...but nail art spiders are not so bad.




I esp love the background...it is a the Revlon 230 Bonsai with an overlay of BL Knackered.  Then I drew on the spider webs and the Black Widow.  Then when that was dry, I overlaid it with OPI Text Me Text You and then the Seche Vite topcoat.  Packs quite the punch in person...did I capture it's facets here?  I think I got it pretty good...but it took a LOT of photos to get this one.

Day 5 Ghosts and Goblins

Here is my Ghosts and Goblins manicure.  I think it came out really cute!


And you might be asking "What is the deal with the glitter pinky finger?"

Well...sadly, I couldn't figure out a good way to portray a Goblin on my finger nail without using decals.  So...I used a play on words.  I have China Glaze's Glitter Goblin.  :D  I have titled this manicure: Ghosts and Glitter Goblin.  :D

And yes, it glows in the dark...but I haven't been able to capture that.  Sigh.  I am going to try another glow in the dark mani in the future and I will try to get the photos then.  My ghostie mani started to come off, so I decided I would do a take two later in the month.

Day 3 Bloody Nails



All I can say is wow...for all it looks difficult, it came together rather nicely for me.  It looks like dripping blood.  I started with a pink french manicure and the used SC Ruby Ruby as my "blood".  Came out nice, don't you think?

I could see this in a movie somewhere.  I might also try the other style of bloody nail that I saw--the splattered bloody nail.  More to come...maybe...

Day 2 Matte Dotticure

This one didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, but it wasn't bad and and my daughter helped me pick out the colors to use.


The orange nail...well, I painted both colors on, then matted them, then re-dotted with a shy topcoat.  Not the most inspired mani, but here ya go.  :D

Day 1 Water Marble


This one was surprisingly easy.  It's called Water Marble or Water Color nails.  It uses room-temperature water in a plastic cup and drops of polish in the water in a "spreading ring" effect like water rings on the top of still water.  You can use a toothpick to change the lines in the rings of nail polish. You block off the area around your nails, paint your nails your choice of basecoat (I used white) and then dip your fingers (surface down) in the freshly dripped paint on the top of the water.  Then clear away the excess nail polish from the top of the water before removing your finger(s) from the water.

If you want to see a play-by-play tutorial, there are TONS of them on www.youtube.com. I highly recommend looking at the different ones on there for your experience level.

It turned out really neat.  I can see doing something like this for the winter time to make it look like swirling snow or summer to represent rain drops.
